First Flight Rotary Club and Foundation
First Flight Rotary Club
First Flight Rotary Club is a diverse group of business and professional men and women from the Outer Banks who have come together to help our community, our country, and our world. We do this following the Rotary motto of “Service Above Self”
In addition to fun networking and friendship at meetings, the Club performs service projects throughout the year and raises money through its annual Oink & Oyster Roast, Putt Putt for Polio, and other smaller events. Major charity efforts include the First Flight High School Band (“best shucking marching band in America!”), to FFHS career and technical education, to the Outer Banks Food Pantry, to Special Olympics, to Alzheimer’s research, to many other Outer Banks non-profits.
The Club has several membership categories, including memberships for part time residents of the Outer Banks who want to be active while here. Click here to learn more about membership in First Flight Rotary Club.

The Rotary Foundation transforms donations into service projects that change lives both close to home and around the world. During the past 100 years, the Foundation has spent $3 billion on life-changing, sustainable projects. Donations make a difference to those who need help most. More than 90 percent of donations go directly to supporting Rotary service projects around the world.
Rotary’s 35,000 clubs carry out sustainable service projects dedicated to six areas of focus to build international relationships, improve lives and create a better world to support Rotary’s peace efforts and end polio forever.
- Promoting peace
- Fighting disease
- Providing clean water, sanitation, and hygiene
- Saving mothers and children
- Supporting education
- Growing local economies
The Rotary Foundation is organized as a public charity operated exclusively for charitable purposes and governed by a Board of Trustees. The operations of Rotary International, a member organization, are overseen by its Board of Directors.
